I. Introduction

Who was or is Jesus? Is there evidence that He actually lived, performed miracles, identified Himself as the Son of God, died by Roman crucifixion, and was resurrected?

jesusstoneJesus of Nazareth is the most controversial person who ever lived. His life divides historical time into B.C. (Before Christ) and A.D. (In the year of our Lord). What is now the largest religion in the world, Christianity, is based on His birth, teachings, life, death, and resurrection. There are also those who deny that Jesus of Nazareth said He was God, performed miracles, was crucified, resurrected, or existed at all.

Is there evidence that Jesus was a real person who said and did the things described in the accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John? Did people actually know Jesus, talk to him, see what he did, hear what he said, observe what happened to him?

And did people remember and record what they saw, heard, and experienced about Jesus?

The answer to all of these questions is yes. There is in fact more historical, scientific, and archeological evidence about Jesus than any other person in ancient history. There is more eyewitness evidence that Jesus lived than there is for Julius Cesar, Alexander the Great, Cleopatra, and most other figures of antiquity.

Here we will present some of the evidence of the birth, life, miracles, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus uncovered by  historians, archeologists, and scientists  in the past 30 years. We will also give you many resources to use for further exploration and investigation of the evidence about Jesus.

Methodology

The purpose of this site is to present you with the historical, archeological, and scientific evidence as it has been uncovered by historians, archeologists, theologians, and scientists over the past three decades. My intent is not to convince you of anything. Rather it is to present evidence you can examine and consider for yourself, in order to reach your own conclusions.

There are two ways to explore the evidence about Jesus on this site. You can use the top menu to examine the information from the point of view of the different types of evidence: historical, archeological, and scientific.

You can also use the menu on the right side of each page and examine the evidence from the point of view of milestones in Jesus’ life: His birth, life, miracles, crucifixion, and resurrection.  Both lines of inquiry are similar, but you may find information in one that is not presented in the other.

In both lines of inquiry, you will find guiding questions written in bold type near a questions icon. The purpose of the questions are to help organize the information being presented on a particular page. I encourage you to pose your own questions and seek your own answers using information and resources from this site, suggested resources, and other information  you may find as you pursue answers to your questions .
